Ride to 95 95 95! See how Sex Workers access HIV services amidst COVID lockdown in Uganda.

On 29th June 2021, the government of Uganda re-imposed a tight 42 days lockdown that included curfew, banning of public transport in efforts to beat back COVID-10 cases.
With support from AIDS-Fondet, Lady Mermaid is implementing the “Ride To 95 95 95” initiative that seek to increase access to HIV services by Sex Workers, their clients and partners through use of Boda-boda riders to deliver HIV Prevention Kits.
In this article, Lady Mermaid is sharing a case story of Ms. Eve, one of the hundreds of Sex Workers benefited the Ride to 95 95 95 Initiative.
Ms. Eve, is one of the Female Sex Workers affected by the lockdown measures on public transport. Eve has spent 4years doing transit Sex Worker that involves moving from one site to another looking for customers.
At the beginning of the lockdown, Eve had travelled to Namataba, a sub-urban town on the eastern region transit route for work, that’s 41 Kms from CDC clinic-Kiruddu Hospital, where she normally seeks her HIV services.
